Emma Cowan is an experienced Counsellor from Scotland, with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Manchester Metropolitan University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling from Stirling University. In addition to this Emma has a range of qualifications and training that enhance her understanding of well-being. With over 20 years’ experience working in education and social care settings, her approach is shaped by the relationships she has formed with children and families from a range of diverse backgrounds and cultures. She has a natural and genuine interest in people, and this is one of the reasons she decided to train to become a counsellor.

Emma cultivates a nurturing and creative environment that aims to encourage confidence and responsibility, focusing on each child’s strengths. She is passionate about empowering children to express their curiosity, ask questions and explore the world around them. She practices Person-Centred Counselling, prioritising empathy and personalisation of therapeutic support based on individual needs of children and families.

Recently relocated from Edinburgh to the UAE with her husband and two teenage children, Emma enjoys family time, supporting her children’s activities, and socialising with friends over coffee. She describes herself as down-to-earth and curious, keen to seek out new experiences. Her interests include swimming, walking, meditation, history, and reading, which contribute to her overall well-being and helps her bring a healthy perspective on life.
