Robin Lawton is a highly experienced educator and leader from England, with 20 years of teaching experience across the Secondary section. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science (BSc.) from University of East Anglia, Norwich, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the same university, and a Masters in Educational Leadership (M.Ed.L) from the University of Nottingham, UK. Robin has taught the English National Curriculum, IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate (IB) in Mexico, and is a passionate advocate of the inquiry-based Middle Years Programme (MYP).
Robin believes that MYP’s emphasis on international-mindedness, sustainability and independent inquiry empowers students to make connections to the real world and take action based on their learning. Even though Robin is a very experienced and effective teacher he is quick to point out that, in all his career, he has “never taught the same lesson twice” and through professional reflection continually explores ways to improve his teaching practice and plan personalised learning experiences that engage, educate and enthuse his students.
This academic year, Robin has chosen to move to the UAE to continue to look for new challenges and take advantage of the opportunities that the country and his career path can offer. He enjoys spending time in the great outdoors and engaging in activities such as hiking, climbing, and cycling. In addition to his passion for education, Robin is interested in exploring the world and learning about different cultures.
