Neil Engel, originally from Cape Town South Africa, is a music educator, trumpet player, pianist, composer, producer and singer who is proficient in a number of genres .He studied Bmus jazz at the University of Cape Town. He has a wealth of teaching experience mostly related to jazz and contemporary music for senior High School students as well as tertiary level students. Neil has taught at various High Schools and Universities across South Africa such as Dainfern College, King David Linksfield, Stellenbosch University and Wits University.
In addition to teaching he is passionate about performing and also composing music across various genres and formats from small contemporary band to jazz big band, to the orchestra. He has composed and arranged music for the Netflix show: ‘Blood and Water’ and for the Amazon TV show ‘Bosch’. He has also performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival in the Hague.
Artists he’s performed with include: Jazz at Lincoln Centre Big Band, Hugh Masekela, Black Coffee, Maysa Leak (Singer for Incognito) and Katherine Jenkins among others.
He is extremely excited about being part of an already outstanding performing arts team and to help fulfil the vision and ignite the passion for music performance and education at Bloom World Academy.
