Originally from Wales but residing in Scotland for the past 23 years, Ian Davies brings two decades of experience and enthusiasm to science education. He holds an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Heriot-Watt University and a PGDE in Teaching from the University of York. For the last 10 years, Ian has served as Head of Science, leading dynamic teams and fostering a culture of excellence in teaching and learning. He continually looks for opportunities to improve.

Ian is passionate about making science engaging and accessible for all students, and creates links between theory and real life science concepts. His inclusive approach ensures every learner is supported and challenged, and has the best opportunity for success.

His whole school leadership of teaching and learning has made a lasting impact on his current school. As the professional development lead, he supports teachers across disciplines, supporting them to grow and innovate their practice through practitioner enquiries, engaging with educational research and teaching frameworks.

Committed to the principles of the IB curriculum, Ian thrives on inspiring curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning in young people. Outside the classroom, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, staying active, and exploring new places.
